Episode #60: A Compassionate Approach to Leading
The pressures facing our society brought on by the pandemic has led to increased depression, higher than usual unemployment rates and civil and political unrest unlike we’ve never seen before. As our spirits continue to be tested, its apparent now more than ever that we need to demonstrate compassion towards one another to successfully move forward collectively. By using compassion, leaders have a tremendous opportunity to create stronger connections between people, improve collaboration, raise the levels of trust and enhance loyalty.
Laura Berland is the founder of the Center for Compassionate Leadership and she along with co-founder Evan Harrel join The Audacious Living Podcast to discuss the work of the center.
“Compassion is a much better motivator than judgment, or punishment. It's true for ourselves, when we're hard on ourselves, self compassion gets us going and it's true with others.”
The Center for Compassionate Leadership helps leaders address the “how” by integrating best practices of modern leadership, evidence-based science, and contemplative wisdom. The Center was founded to advance a new way to lead in this world. It’s proven curriculum and training deliver the tools, techniques, and practices that enable leaders to go beyond simple understanding to embody and live fully as compassionate leaders.
Laura and Evan also provide insight on how compassion can be used as a primary tool for employee well being, how compassion strengthens leadership and organizations and how it can be used to recognize our interconnectedness.
