The idea of having mastery over your mental performance is typically targeted at athletes before a big game or performance. However generally speaking, mental performance mastery is about developing the mindset needed to play with confidence, focus, and resiliency while at the same time, controlling for anxiety and other mental disruptions that could potentially take away from competing at a top level. This essentially meams that this mindset can be applied to all aspects of our lives.

A key skill to developing this mastery is the ability to remain in the moment. Most of us have a tendency to live in the past or the future. We find ourselves thinking about what happened yesterday, or what might happen tomorrow causing us to not fully appreciate what we have in front of us. Our happiness doesn't lie in the future but rather in the present moment where we are.

The problem is that life doesn’t last forever, and one day these people are going to look back and realize they spent their whole lives looking forward to the future rather than enjoying the moments they were given.

“Amazingly accomplished Olympians prepare for four years and then trip and fall in the middle at the beginning of the race. There's nothing we could do, it just was what it was going to be. So the only choice that you really have is to just be present and be and allow whatever is to happen to happen.”

Ayanna Sealey incorporates her unique experience as a Broadway performer and master’s in performance psychology to help artists, high-level executives, and athletes, realize their potential and achieve peak performance. Essentially, she helps “performers” in any regard, “unblock” themselves so that they can truly present in alignment with their true purpose and to the degree that they are capable of.

Ayanna joins The Audacious Living Podcast to and discusses the significance of having mastery over our mental mindset, how staying present and in the moment can produce better results and the importance of shining a light on mental health when it comes to high performing individuals.
