Its only natural that once you start to experience some form of success in your personal or professional life that you’ll be subject to some form of attack by others who want to bring you down and prevent you from standing out.
Life would be good if you could continue operating with no issues, but that's not a reality. Attacks on your character and reputation are bound to happen, especially as you grow and find success. Jealousy, envy and other emotions can enter people's mind and cause them to want to damage you and attack your reputation.
The key is to stay focused and continue to do the things that have made you successful. Don’t let others pull you into the mud by firing back and look to offer as much value as you possibly can. You can't let the negativity of others keep you from standing tall and shining your light.
“Everybody has a fault. I mean, people just won't cut people a break anymore. It's like, we see somebody tall, and now we nitpick and try and find out what's wrong with in their past that maybe we can take them down.”
Understanding Tall Poppy
A Tall Poppy, in Australian terms, is someone noticeably successful as defined by wealth, prestige, prowess, rank or even birth that may attract hostility, envious attention, or malevolence. Some people holding this Tall Poppy person in contempt may attempt to cause failure or disgrace by “cutting” him or her “down to size”; thus causing their target to be “tall-poppied”
