Episode #148: Wear Your Crown Like A Queen! Featuring ReGina Smithwick

“I'm always telling people that when you suppress stuff down and you think that everything's cool, it's not. Think of it like a soda. You shake it up, it's gonna have to come out. It's gonna come out some other way. It's not gonna come in the way you suppressed. It's gonna come out different facets.”

Every single person will naturally go through a wide range emotions as part of the human experience. Anger, sadness, joy, and shame are all common feelings that play an important role in daily life. What many people oftentimes do in response to the negative emotions, is ignore or suppress them almost as if they don’t exist. Not only does suppressing your emotions, whether it’s anger, sadness, grief or frustration, can lead to physical stress on your body but they can influence how we think, act or view the world.

For five seasons, this dynamic duo co-produced and co-hosted the popular NBA podcast, “The Breakdown with Dave & Audley”. It was a fun, high energy call-in basketball talk show featured over 250 entertaining interviews from current/past NBA stars, coaches and celebrity hoops fans and finished its run with over one million downloads.

“Everybody goes through things or they want to be happy but you have to do your work. That's the part a lot of people don’t often see, that little piece in the middle is always missing. We see the breakdown, we see the break through, but you don't see the middle. That's doing your work.”

ReGina Smithwick is the founder of ReGina Smithwick Enterprises LLC, a professional Organizer, Certified life coach, the creator of Let's Talk a Talk show & podcast, motivational speaker and author. After undergoing a mental breakdown in 2019, ReGina came to the realization with the aid of a spiritual life coach that she was not standing in her truth and was lying to the world.

This was large in part due to the fact that she suppressed that she was an adopted as a child at an early age. ReGina did the work to get to a better place and found her voice and she now wants to help others to find theirs.

ReGina joins Audley on The Audacious Living Podcast to discuss the process she underwent to find her voice, the experiences of being an adopted child and the hazards of suppressing our true feelings.
