Episode #66: My Two Time Battle with Cancer featuring Melody Saberon Ybarra

“I remember one of my coaches at the time would always say if you feel defeated, you are defeated. So you have to put yourself in that mindset, like you've got this, you can beat this, or you can beat them or whatever it is.”

Its very easy for feelings of isolation to set in during periods of great adversity and struggle. Its hard to imagine that anyone can possibly understand what we’re going through in the moment or have any idea what we could be feeling. When we share our own stories of overcoming challenges with one another, they have the incredible power to change our perspective while providing hope and inspiration to others who may be going through their own set of difficulties. These individuals can find strength and motivation to help them get through whatever is confronting them and can be integral in support of the long process of healing.

Each person living with cancer has a story to tell and Melody Saberon Ybarra joins The Audacious Living Podcast to share her two time cancer journey and how she was able to get through the most difficult periods of her life.

“At the time, I was working with a an oncologist in Bakersfield who was associated with UCLA Medical Center. So he made me feel confident in my decision. And I'm, you know, I'm glad I went that route because I'm still here.”

Its been a little over 20 years since Melody's first battle with cancer and she continues to openly share her experiences to encourage and help others on their cancer journey.

She supports Kern County Cancer Foundation which supports cancer patients who are undergoing treatment.
