Episode #73: Twisted Business featuring Jay Jay French of Twisted Sister

“When I talk to other bands, they may go through some kind of similarity, but they can't articulate it this way. This was a clear articulation in business terms about success for a band which does not normally go with it. So I'm laying it out to you that this is how it happened.”

Jay Jay French - Twisted Sister

It's been said that every experience can offer important life lessons as long as we’re paying close enough attention to what’s going on around us. Jay Jay French is a man of many talents and can attest to this. Throughout his long career in music, he’s been a Rock star, as both the lead guitarist and founding member of Twisted Sister. He’s been a band manager, record producer, key note speaker and most recently, author of the book, “Twisted Business: Lessons from My Life in Rock 'n Roll”.

Jay Jay has gained a ton of insights from his experiences and used them to develop a business theory known as The T.W.I.S.T.E.D. Method. as French called it, emphasizes the role of Tenacity, Wisdom, Inspiration, Stability, Trust, Excellence and Discipline in finding success in business.

“The more I told the story, the more than narrative peeled out, the more I realized that if I wrote a book, the book wasn't just going to be one of these rock'n'roll memoirs. That's so typical, it had to be something that meant something and that imparted some wisdom because otherwise, there was no point doing it.”

Together with his mentor, Steve Farber, a best-selling author and one of the world’s top leadership and management experts, French offers unique, hard-earned tips and advice from his nearly 50 years as a musician, music business manager, and entrepreneur.

French shows how, through tenacity, grit, and dedication, anyone can create their own brand, grow a successful business, re-invent themselves, or simply find success in what they love to do.
