While organizational culture itself is invisible, its effects can both be seen and felt by everyone in the organization. Similar to the wind, when it's blowing in your direction, it makes for smooth sailing. When it is blowing against you, everything is more difficult.
Culture is important and matters because it can have a direct impact on the health of the organization so when things become difficult, that’s when leaders need to figure out how to bring about change to shift the culture. it’s also true that culture is a series of habits - habits at the individual, team, and organizational level. And habits can be observed, understood, and shifted.
Shifting the culture of an organization means recognizing that the habits of the individual, team and organizational level make a difference no mattee how small they may appear to be.
“It's like being the butterfly in the amazon. What can you do to start to make a difference, and it doesn't need to be big.”
